The Legal and Compliance Manager assumes responsibility for the companies Legal Department and supports the Human Capital Department. The Legal Department should be available to assist other companies from the Group on legal issues

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

OUTLINE OF DUTIES:

  • Follow up and defend accident legal cases and liaise with Attorney’s.
  • Manage accident cases and liaise with reconstruction experts Police Department, insurance companies, State attorney, Court of Law, and attorneys to ensure the company’s interests are protected.
  • Draft and maintain standardized policies and procedures across the board and where necessary draft and implement policies and procedures to meet business requirements.
  • Assisting in commercial and contractual negotiations.
  • Ensure legal compliance with all licenses, permits and insurance policies.
  • Provide in-house legal counselling to all employees when required.
  • Liaise with insurance brokers and manage the insurance portfolio risk and insurance.
  • Develop and lead a cohesive team capable of planning and executing day-to-day activities in a professional, effective, and cost-effective manner.
  • Maintain good relations with all Attorney’s and ensuring that up to date in house files and records are kept.

HARD SKILLS-BACKGROUND / TECHNICAL COMPETENCE:

  • Academic Background: Completed LLB Degree
  • Admitted Attorney of the High Court.
  • Registered with the Law Society as a practicing Attorney.
  • Extensive knowledge of Imports & Exports especially in RSA, Congo, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Dubai.
  • Need to have a minimum of 8 years as an Admitted Attorney working with Imports, Exports, and overall Compliance.
  • Computer literate.
  • Languages, Fluent in English, and French (not a dealbreaker).
