Qualification(s):

  • 4-year Logistics or Supply Chain Management degree, or 4-year equivalent diploma (BTECH) OR,
  • 4-year Industrial Engineering, or 4-year equivalent diploma (BTECH) OR,
  • Production Management degree or 4-year equivalent diploma (BTECH) OR,

5-10 years minimum relevant experience in industry with in-depth experience in all job-related requirements listed below

Additional Computer Skills :

WMS advanced experience (CMMS3 & SAP) – will be essential requirement

  • Highly proficient in Excel/PowerPoint for data management and reporting

Job-related Requirements:

 

5-8+ years, Automotive material handling-line supply experience, and 2+ years project management;

  • OEM or Tier-1 manufacturing experience;
  • Experience working in a key positions Warehouse, Body shop, Paint shop, Trim, Chassis & Final Lines, Program Launches;
  • Experience managing multiple operations concurrently;
  • Solid business aptitude and experience managing overall program implementation performance;
  • Strong computer skills and expert knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access;
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task;
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and collaborative;
  • Strong people management skills to manage diverse teams;
  • Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills;
  • Tact, a sense of urgency, and an overall customer satisfaction focus;

  • Ability to work extended hours during the week and weekends

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

This position aims to ensure contract adherence in terms of client relations, operational performance, commercial andfinancial performance, people management and development and continual improvement initiatives.

The role needs to ensure operations are managed in accordance with the standards and policies and procedures.

Ensure that the strategy, goals and initiatives are cascaded down through the organization into the various areas of the operation.

Support and actively participate in development services and solutions to complement offering to the Automotive industry.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend daily customer meetings and provide detailed operational feedback
  • Manage stock integrity in the material flow streams
  • Support line side station readiness process with respective production areas
  • Supply parts to respective line stations in timeous manner for successful daily volume achievements
  • Manage part level changes and obsolescence process in line with customer requirements
  • Manage all HR / IR related processes for all direct and indirect reports
  • Establish departmental objectives and manage succesfull execution
  • Provide direction and leadership and prioritize the activities of the Material Planning & Logistics
  • Develop and manage the Material Planning & Logistics line supply operations
  • Develop a plant synchronous material flow strategy that eliminate waste
  • Coordinate the development of a lean plant layout that achieves the clients Production Systems requirements with the operations area leaders
  • Provide leadership and direction to the group, Plan, Develop, Perform Workforce Readiness
  • Provide MP&L functional knowledge, including new model launch planning, change control, bill of material, parts follow-up, shop floor scheduling, inventory planning, cycle checking, distribution, logistics, material handling, packaging, andindustrial material to support the plant manufacturing processes with production and nonproduction materials
  • Provides high-level management of MP&L floor operations and Production Control (office support) department
  • Coach and counsel lean manufacturing behaviors and instill discipline in Material Planning & Logistics processes
  • Meet material handling guidelines and regulations
  • Review and evaluate future plans for expansion and/or modification of the plant’s Material Planning & Logistics equipment, resources, and/or future facilities to determine the effect on MP&L operations
  • Ensure proper salaried headcount and manpower is in place to support the business needs
  • Develop department objectives, Master Schedule, Implementation Roadmaps
  • Participate on plant’s senior leadership Operating Committee
  • Participate with Supply Chain Management, scheduling, customers, and plant when there are production critical supply issues
  • Assure Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, Maintenance, Environment objectives and operating systems implementation
  • Prioritize key issues and allocate resources accordingly
  • Assure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), vehicle safety, ergonomics, housekeeping, practices are being planned and adhered to
  • Represent employees in local personnel development committee and ensure there is a developmental plan for employees,proper compensation planning, and performance reviews completed
  • Coach and counsel salaried and hourly employees as required
  • Develop action plans to improve morale within the department
  • Experience with high-level management of facility-wide material handling initiatives
  • Experience supervising salaried employees, including managers Electives

  • Experience in scheduling, distribution, supply chain, inventory planning, bill of material, change control, new model launch, logistics, material handling line feed processes, nonproduction stores, material flow, FCSD, production and material management systems desired
  • Interface with the customer production personnel to:
  • Establish line-feeding and pick requirements for each new model part
  • Attend cycle line layout (CLL) reviews and provide feedback on MP&L feasibility and issues
  • Develop a training plan with the LPWR Leader to ensure that each material handler is aware of new or changing material handling processes
  • Develop and execute an effective balance out and system fill plan
  • Identify and resolve line side part complexity and part presentation issues with the area leaders
  • Identify and resolve broadcast issues with the area launch leaders and the plant T. engineer
  • Manage engineering alert changes with the plant launch team and the affected suppliers
  • Provide direction and leadership and prioritize the day to day activities of the Material Plannning & Logistics, Material Handling team
  • Represent in all launch activities and at each gateway review
  • Coordinate material handling equipment changes and installations with customers Material Flow Engineering and Vehicle Operations Manufacturing Engineering departments
  • Review all product changes, understanding the differences relative to the current product and their impact to packaging, part presentation, marketplace storage, supplier shipment frequency and all other Material Planning & Logisticesprocesses
  • Review recommended Material Planning & Logisticsa process changes with the engineers
  • Identify, track and resolve all material equipment, process and design concerns encountered during the builds
  • Assist operations during all the pre-production builds

Client Operations:

  • Full accountability and leadership on all aspects of the clients Silverton operations in Gauteng,
  • Accountable for all initiatives being implemented across these operations, including potential new
  • Meeting of all customer ; Compliance of sites to standards; SHERQ – achieve minimum requirements; Implement and maintain Quality Management System at all departments
  • Be involved in unlocking synergies within operations to improve competitiveness of solution; Drive synergies with other business units, where possible, to improve operational performance

Client Relationships:

  • Ensuring client’s needs and expectations are consistently met within scope of the
  • Client interaction and issue resolution to ensure client
  • Structured management reviews to review performance and discuss strategic

Commercial / Financial:

  • Thorough understanding and application of contract and service level agreement to achieve account stability and profitability.
  • Responsible for P&L and Accounting queries for Operations
  • Claims resolution, investigate and understand claim details per incident, report internally and negotiate and process compensation when valid.
  • Identify and support initiatives to further improve account

Operational Performance:

  • Actively managing daily operational performance to consistently achieve performance metric targets
  • Delivering on client and internal continuous improvement requirements and driving Lean culture
  • Internal stakeholder communication management ensure agreed to meetings, conference calls and forums are planned and conducted internally as agreed to by all stakeholders, this is an ongoing requirement.
  • Customer dissatisfaction process analyse failures with regards to deliveries, client complaints, damages etc to determine root cause and corrective actions.
  • Follow through on corrective actions and close the Corrective and Preventative Actions Process

People Management:

  • Firm and consistent approach to ongoing performance measurement and management of
  • Ensure effective resourcing in all departments to deliver the expected
  • Resolution of all IR issues in conjunction with

Experience:

  • 8+ years operations management experience in logistics environment, with min of 8 years in production logistics.

 

  • People management skills including leadership, performance management, IR, people motivation and people development
  • Communication & conflict management skills to successfully deal with all levels, age groups and cultures of people – both internaland external. Ability to manage people in a unionized environment successfully;
  • Commercial & financial skills: Financial acumen and experience in adherence to budget, contract management and service level

agreements;
