Junior Bookkeeper Stores – Retail – Sandton (Ref 7190)

Our client in the Retail Industry  is looking for a detail‑oriented Junior Bookkeeper to join our finance team and support the accounting function across multiple retail stores. The role involves processing financial transactions, reconciling accounts, and working closely with stores, suppliers, and management to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Monthly balancing of loan accounts and processing of journals
• Capture and reconcile monthly creditors/supplier invoices
• Process VAT journals for all stores
• Load and manage supplier payments via Nedbank
• Assist with allocations of supplier payments to invoices
• Follow up on outstanding debtor payments
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cash, card, and third‑party payment reconciliations
• Liaise with stores to ensure accurate cash deposits and timely submission of reports
• Maintain electronic and physical filing of financial documents
• Assist with ad hoc finance and office administration duties

Requirements

• Relevant bookkeeping or accounting qualification (or studying towards one)
• 1–3 years’ experience in a bookkeeping or finance role (retail experience advantageous)
• Knowledge of VAT and basic accounting principles
• Experience with accounting systems and online banking
• Strong Excel skills
• High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
